The Cotswold Floorball League's 'B' Team qualifying pool took another major step to completion, although eight more matches are needed to decide which teams will contest the final.
St James & Ebrington B team had just one match, but a 3-0 win over North Cotswold (NCSF) sent them to the top of the table for the time being at least. Oliver Haydon's hat trick sealed the result.
St James & Ebrington C were also in action, playing a 0-0 draw against NCSF and losing 0-2 to Blockley. Max Spodafora and Andre Jeffrey scored. Spodafora was also on target against NCSF when he made good use of a delayed penalty to equalise the Federation's earlier goal by George Gilder.
Willersey had a single match in which they hoped to jump into a possible qualifying spot. They played probably the best floorball of the night, with neat passes and clean tackling, but could not control the final pass quickly enough to make a shot. Against the run of play, Sidney Beckett-Green had one chance to shoot and scored the winner for the Federation.
Temple Guiting had a good evening, with two wins in very close matches. A single long throw from goalkeeper Richard Upton found Harry Keighley unmarked and he scored the winner against NCSF. Temple Guiting's match against Blockley was the best of the night. Patrick Upton gave Guiting an early 2-0 lead only for Spodafora and Jeffrey to level scores late in the game. With only seconds left Blockley had a player sent to the penalty box and this power play was enough for Patrick Upton to net the winner.
Whilst St James & Ebrington B are in pole position, Sedgeberrow and Dormer House are close behind. Willersey and Blockley have an outside chance of getting to a possible semi final.
St James & Ebrington B 3-0 NCSF
St James & Ebrington C 0-2 Blockley
St James & Ebrington C 0-0 NCSF
Temple Guiting 1-0 NCSF
Temple Guiting 3-2 Blockley
NCSF 1-1 Blockley
Willersey 0-1 NCSF
Next week, 27th February 2018, St James & Ebrington B, Blockley, Willersey, Ilmington and Dormer House meet in the next round of 'B' Team matches.
