The Cotswold Floorball League's 'B' Team qualifying pool is almost complete, yet the two remaining matches (Sedgeberrow v St James & Ebrington 'B' and Sedgeberrow v Blockley) are still needed to decide which teams will contest the final.
St James & Ebrington B team had a great chance of sealing their place in that final if they could beat both their opponents on the night. An Oliver Beale hat trick gave them a 3-0 win over Ilmington, the last of these a beautiful flick to the roof of the net from a long way out. Unfortunately, Dormer House were also in line to reach the final and scored two early goals through William Droy. With a minute to go Finlay Holland-Bird made a point blank save to deny Saints. With only seconds remaining he was finally beaten by Oliver Haydon, but had done enough to preserve a 2-1 win.
Dormer House continued their good form against both Willersey and Blockley, defeating both 2-0. Droy scored three of these four goals, Logan Drysdale Mills being 'odd man out' with his goal against Blockley. This puts Dormer into a semi final at the worst, although results may yet go their way to enable direct entry to the final. St James & Ebrington 'B' are in a similar position, but can get direct to the final by beating Sedgeberrow in two week's time.
Blockley overcame Ilmington 2-0, Max Spodafora netting both. Ilmington started well against Willersey, Rory Rowan scoring early on. The defence held out well, but could not hope to stop Theo Beale's equaliser. Willersey again showed good positional play and inter passing, but could not find the finishing touches they craved.
St James & Ebrington B 1-2 Dormer House
St James & Ebrington C 3-0 Ilmington
Dormer House 2-0 Willersey
Ilmington 0-2 Blockley
Dormer House 2-0 Blockley
Willersey 1-1 Ilmington
Next week, 6th March 2018, St James & Ebrington, North Cotswold SF, Temple Guiting, Ilmington, St Catharines and Dormer House meet to decide the finalists of the 'A' Team competition.
